Wike Affirms PDP's Encouragement for Accepting Ministerial Role in Tinubu's Administration

Former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has asserted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) granted him permission to assume the ministerial role within the Bola Tinubu administration.

Wike, in his remarks, characterized the PDP leaders as “reggae dancers” for their threats of sanctions, highlighting that the party was well-informed before he embraced the position.

He further revealed that Tinubu corresponded with all 36 state governors, including those from the PDP. These governors collectively submitted 10 names each for consideration as ministerial appointees.

During his inaugural press conference as a Federal Republic minister in Abuja, Wike questioned the notion of having any personal enemies. He emphasized his commitment to honesty and criticized the spread of propaganda.

Addressing the criticism he faced for accepting the ministerial appointment, Wike stated that he had communicated his decision to various party figures, including the national chairman, minority leaders of the House of Representatives and Senate, zonal chairman, state chairman, and his own governor.

He affirmed that all of them gave their approval for him to accept the position.Wike concluded by substantiating his claims with documented evidence, dismissing what he referred to as “reggae dancers” who he felt were resorting to arrogance and impunity after missing out on an opportunity.
