Renowned Nollywood star Chinedu Ikedieze, popularly known as Aki, has opened up about the hurdles he confronted during his upbringing due to a diagnosis of stunted growth.

In a recent conversation with prominent media figure Chude Jideonwo, the 45-year-old actor shared his experiences. He recounted how he became deeply troubled after the doctor informed his mother about his condition, and eventually grappled with thoughts of suicide as a result of his slow growth.

Ikedieze reminisced, “A pivotal moment occurred when I was nine years and six months old.

I vividly recall the doctor telling my mother, ‘Madam, what he has is stunted growth.’ That’s when I first encountered the terms ‘stunted’ and ‘retarded growth.’ I shed many tears because I faced bullying both at school and home due to my inadequate growth.

The situation worsened to the point where I contemplated ending my life. Thankfully, I didn’t grow up in Lagos because the Third Mainland Bridge isn’t too far
